Series 856 - Submerged Discharge Valves
The vertical sleeve type valve was designed by Glenfield to achieve an excellent means of controlling flow under submerged discharge conditions. It operates on the principle of throttling pressure across multiple orifices, which are specially sized, shaped, and positioned around a circular sleeve. Energy is dissipated in the water immediately surrounding the submerged part of the valve.
Flow characteristics can be linear throughout the valve stroke, or can be customized for special applications. The valve can be operated in a throttled position for extended lengths of time for precise flow control.
The valve is applicable to service under a wide range of heads. It can regulate flow throughout its entire range of travel, is not subject to vibration or cavitation, and has a high coefficient of discharge.
